Hello! My name is Mariel Baez, and I am honored to be your child's teacher. I have over six years of experience working with young children, and I am passionate about helping them learn, grow, and discover the world around them. Supporting children during their early learning years is truly rewarding, and I strive to create positive and meaningful experiences every day.

I am blessed with a wonderful husband and three beautiful children who inspire the love and dedication I bring into the classroom. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, playing sports, and exploring the mountains with my family.

I believe every child is unique, capable, and full of potential. My goal is to provide a classroom where children feel safe, respected, valued, and excited to learn through hands-on activities, creativity, and nurturing relationships.

Hello! My name is Mayelyn Viltres, and I am proud to be part of the Little Sunshine Daycare Center team. I am originally from Cuba and came to the United States four years ago. Here, I welcomed my daughter, Lizt Marie, who brings joy and inspiration to my life each day.

I consider myself cheerful, caring, and dedicated. I enjoy working with children and helping them learn, explore, and grow in a warm, supportive environment. Watching children develop new skills and confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

I value family deeply and enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve families and support children during these important early years.

Hello! My name is Carolin Perez, and I am delighted to welcome you and your child to the classroom. I enjoy working with children and creating a positive, fun, and engaging learning environment where they can feel comfortable and confident.

I love singing with children, playing interactive games, and planning enjoyable activities that encourage creativity and learning. My goal is to help every child feel supported, happy, and excited to participate each day.

I also have a strong appreciation for art and creativity. Some of my favorite artists are Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Pablo Picasso, whose work inspires imagination and self-expression.

Throughout my teaching career, I have had the privilege of contributing to the academic and personal development of many students, helping prepare them for purposeful lives while encouraging kindness and happiness.

I value peace, organization, nature, culture, and meaningful time with family. I also believe strongly in helping others whenever possible.

Today, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my educational journey in a new environment with new experiences and challenges. I remain committed to bringing the same love, dedication, professionalism, and responsibility to every child and family I serve.

Hello! My name is Berki Castillo, and I have proudly worked at Little Sunshine Daycare Center for the past two years. I currently serve as a teacher, providing valuable classroom support and helping ensure each day runs smoothly.

I enjoy working closely with children by teaching through learning activities, daily routines, and a warm, caring, structured environment. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing children smile and watching their faces light up when they learn something new.

I am also a proud mother of four children and grandmother of seven grandchildren. My years of experience caring for children and supporting families have made this work especially meaningful to me. I truly enjoy being part of the Little Sunshine Daycare Center family.

Mi Nombre: Ana María Pino.

Mi Vocación: ¡Amo ser maestra! Me apasiona enseñar y ver el crecimiento de cada uno de sus pequeños cada día.

Sobre mí: Nací el 29 de abril de 1966 (soy del signo Tauro) y soy orgullosamente ecuatoriana.

Mi Familia: Llevo 35 años de feliz matrimonio con mi esposo, Nahin Pinto. Somos padres de tres maravillosos hijos y bendecidos abuelos de dos nietos: Alyssa Daniela, de 15 años, y Noah Gael, de 2 años. Además, ¡nuestra familia sigue creciendo!, ya que esperamos con mucha ilusión la llegada de un nuevo bebé en febrero del próximo año.

Mis Pasatiempos: Fuera del aula, me apasionan las manualidades y todo lo relacionado con la creatividad y los proyectos hechos a mano. Mi meta este año es trabajar de la mano con ustedes para que sus hijos tengan un entorno seguro, lleno de aprendizaje y diversión. My name is Karen Lopez, and I am a Teacher Assistant at Little Sunshine Daycare Center. I graduated from high school one year ago after completing medical assisting training. Before joining Little Sunshine, I worked as a Behavioral Therapist, where I gained valuable experience recognizing children’s individual needs, encouraging positive behaviors, and supporting their social and emotional development.

I have always been passionate about working with children. I enjoy helping them explore new ideas, develop important skills, and become more confident in their abilities. It is especially meaningful to accompany them throughout their learning journey and celebrate each new milestone they achieve.

I have over ten years of experience in the early education field and have gained valuable knowledge throughout my career. Working with young children has always been meaningful to me, and I truly enjoy having the opportunity to continue spending time with them, supporting their growth, and watching them learn each day.

As Program Director, I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for every child and family we serve. I believe that strong partnerships with parents and a caring educational team are essential to helping children succeed.

Meet the Founder and Executive Director

Geraldo Pagán

LMHC · Founder and Executive Director

Geraldo Pagán, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, author, community advocate, and the proud father of two adult children and a grandfather. With more than 25 years of service in human services and behavioral health, he has dedicated his career to strengthening families, promoting emotional wellness, and expanding access to culturally responsive mental health care.

As the founder of Diverse Understanding Mental Health Counseling, Geraldo has provided clinical services, professional consultation, community education, and suicide prevention initiatives throughout Massachusetts. His work has included collaborations with public health agencies and community organizations to improve mental health awareness, particularly within Latino and underserved communities.

Driven by his lifelong passion for supporting children and families, Geraldo founded Little Sunshine Daycare Center, where early childhood education is grounded in social-emotional development, trauma-informed practices, and holistic learning. His vision is to create an environment where children feel emotionally safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential while building strong partnerships with families.

Beyond his clinical and educational work, Geraldo has written books on emotional healing, resilience, trauma recovery, and personal growth. His mission is to bridge mental health, education, and community engagement to help individuals and families thrive across generations.
